Cuzco Restaurants

On our first trip to Cuzco, the places to eat there were very basic. There were not any fine restaurants. On our trip last year however, there were too many nice restaurants to fit into our time there. Here are a few;

MAP Café
Monica’s review: upscale Nuovo Peruvian located in the courtyard of the Museo de Arte Precolombino. It is perfect for an upscale dinner. I had the Aji de Gallina which is one of my favorite dishes, and my way of judging if I like the restaurant. It was a modern take on the traditional dish served in a hallowed out Potato and presented very nicely, it’s taste left me feeling happy.

Greens
Monica’s review: Too busy and we were too hungry to wait. It was highly recommended by the concierge at La Casona. Always have hotel call for client before they walk up the hill as other restaurants are not nearly as nice up there in San Blas square. The courtyard was very pretty, busy, and many locals as well as well heeled tourists were in line.

Cicciolina
Monica’s Review: My favorite. It is upscale and beautiful in a casual way. Hard to get a reservation but our hotel La Casona got us one. We had a beautiful table by the window with a wonderful view of the square on one side and a fantastic big Latin Modern Painting. Food is great. If you cannot get a reservation for dinner, check them out for breakfast.

Restaurante Illary
This is the most upscale (and expensive) restaurant in town, located in the Monasterio Hotel. We did not have time to make it to this one.

A Mi Manera
An excellent place for a relaxed dinner of Peruvian Food. It is located on the second floor overlooking a Colonia courtyard. We did not make it here either.

Incanto
Monica’s Review: Nice atmosphere near the main square. The food was good and service too. It is a bigger less formal environment, families, the young, and old should all feel welcome here.
